Tour Scotland Photograph Dry Stone Dyke Dunkeld Perthshire

Tour Scotland photograph of a man building a dry stone dyke, or in the photo above a dry slate, dyke in Dunkeld, Perthshire, Scotland. Dry stone dykes or walls, goes back many hundreds of years in Scotland. Built without mortar, these sturdy walls provide habitat for small animals, lichens and mosses. In the old days the stones gathered from the fields were built into dry stone walls to form majestic field boundaries.
