Robert Campbell of Glenlyon led the detachment of government troops responsible for the infamous Glencoe Massacre, of the MacDonalds of Glencoe in 1691. Robert was the second son of Archibald Campbell, fier of Glenlyon, eldest son of Duncan Campbell, 4th of Glenlyo, and his wife Jean, daughter of Sir Robert Campbell. born 1575, died 1657, 3rd Baronet and 9th Laird of Glenorchy.
