Old Photograph War Memorial Tarfside Angus Scotland

Old photograph of the War Memorial in Tarfside, Angus, Scotland. During World War 2, a secret unit was based in the area known as the " Tarfside Patrol " This was led by Sergeant W. D. Kidd, who reported to the Group Commander Captain H. A. Ferrier, and Lieutenant A.J Mackie. An underground base would have been made which the patrol would have gone into hiding if the German's had invaded. Tarfside is a small Scottish village located in the upper course of the Glen Esk valley of the River North Esk around nine miles north of Edzell. Tarfside has a footpath to nearby Loch Lee, and the area is much enjoyed by walkers.
