Tour Scotland Video Parish Church and Graveyard Anstruther East Neuk Of Fife
Tour Scotland travel video of the parish church and graveyard on ancestry, history visit and trip to Anstruther, East Neuk of Fife. The current church is made up of three previous Parish Churches. These were Anstruther Easter, Anstruther Wester and Chalmers Memorial, united in 1973. The building you are viewing was originally Anstruther Easter built in 1634 to allow the people of the area to worship locally, instead of having to make their way to Kilrenny Church. The steeple houses a clock with faces on three sides. This was paid for by public subscription and was put in place in 1878. The Church is a barn-like building with no apse or chancel. The steeple was an afterthought built in 1644, the spire the following year, to house a ‘siller bell’ brought from Holland. The bell is still in use today and bears the inscription “Andro Strang bought this bell with his ain monyes anno 1641.
