Originally built around 1286 near Scone Palace which has a rich history tied to the coronation of Scottish kings and the development of the village of Scone. The church was moved, stone by stone, in 1805 to become the first building in the newly established village of New Scone, identifying it from the original site near the palace. The relocated church was the first structure in the new village, which later became simply known as Scone.
