Graveyard With Music On History Visit To Abbotshall Kirkcaldy, Fife Scotland

Tour Scotland short 4K Spring travel video clip of the graveyard at Abbotshall, Kirkcaldy, Fife, Britain, United Kingdom. Abbotshall was a parish, in the district of Kirkcaldy, Fife. It consisted of Linktown and Newtown, and the village of Chapel. This place derived its name from its having been the residence of the abbots of Dunfermline. Abbotshall Church was established in 1650. It is recorded in "The Presbyterie Booke of Kirkcaldie" that on October 17, 1649, Sir John Wemyss asked wither an other Kirk should be built in Kirkcaldy, thus began the history of Abbotshall Parish and its church. The Presbytery agreed to build the church on the landward on land given for the purpose by Sir Andrew Ramsay of Raith Estate. Over the centuries there has been much change at Abbotshall with the main part of the current building dating from its rebuilding in 1788. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.
