Tour Scotland travel video of The Sailor's Hornpipe Dance at the Alyth agricultural show on rainy day ancestry visit to Bogles Field, Essendy Road, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland. The Sailor's Hornpipe is also known as The College Hornpipe and Jack's the Lad, it is a traditional hornpipe melody. It is suggested that hornpipe as a dance began around the 16th century on English sailing vessels. The hornpipe is an Irish, Scottish and English dance. It is done in hard shoes, which are used to help keep track of how the dancer keeps in time.
