Tour Scotland Video Albert Square Dundee Tayside

Tour Scotland video of Albert Square on ancestry visit to the city of Dundee, Tayside, Scotland. The first part of the video shows Dundee High School, the boys' building, which was originally the Public Seminaries. The second part of the video shows Dundee's old Royal Exchange, designed by David Bryce and built in 1855.This has a Flemish Neo-Gothic style. The third part of the video shows McManus Galleries a Gothic Revival style building which houses a museum and art gallery with a collection of fine and decorative art as well as a natural history collection. The final part of the video shows the Burns Statue. Sculptor, Sir John Steell, made the original of this statue of Burns for New York at a cost of 2000 guineas. Dundee paid 1000 guineas for a replica. It was unveiled on 16th October 1880 by Mr Frank Henderson MP in front of about 20,000 people. Robert Burns visited Dundee briefly in the Autumn of 1787. The statue is situated in Albert Square in front of the McManus Galleries.
