Tour Scotland Photograph Paisley Close Edinburgh
Tour Scotland photograph of Paisley Close, Royal Mile, Edinburgh, Scotland. On the 24th of November, 1861, two buildings here collapsed without warning, killing 35 people. While rescuers were clearing away the fallen stone, a voice was heard beneath the rubble. " Heave awa' lads, I'm no deid yet ! " Joseph McIver was rescued and Paisley Close, was built in place of the downed buildings with a memorial inscription above it, the famous cry altered to " Heave awa' chaps, I'm no' dead yet ! "
