Tour Scotland Self Catering Holiday Apartment Recommendation Corpach
Tour Scotland self catering holiday apartment recommendation in Corpach by Fort William, Scotland.
Ravenswood is the upper conversion of Ravensdale House, a substantial Victorian Villa, built in the 1870’s. Ravenswood provides extremely spacious holiday accommodation within the upper floor of this Victorian Villa. The upper apartment is accessed via a private stairwell. Ravenswood boasts 2 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom. There are 2 living areas a breakfasting kitchen and a separate formal dining area. All rooms are elegantly proportioned. Bed linen, towels, electricity and heating are provided. WiFi is also available on the premises. Travel cot, high chair and a stair gate are available. At the bottom of the main entrance stairwell there is ample space to store wellies and walking boots and a bike or two. There is a cloakroom area just in the door of the apartment with ample coat hooks and space for all other outdoor footwear. Car parking is available for cars, immediately adjacent to entrance door. The canal lock at Corpach Basin in the Scottish Highlands on Loch Linnhe, east of the narrows leading to Loch Eil, is the western sea entrance of the Caledonian Canal. The Battle of Corpach in about 1470 saw Clan Cameron rout Clan MacLean. In World War I, the United States Navy had a base at Corpach as part of the laying of the North Sea Mine Barrage. Naval mines were shipped into Corpach from the United States, and were then sent to the Inverness base along the Caledonian Canal, which joins Loch Linnhe at Corpach. During World War II, Corpach was the engineering base for HMS St Christopher which was a training base for Royal Navy Coastal Forces. Some of the buildings are still in use. There was a large camp at Annat, now used as a caravan site.
