August 29th photograph of Jougs in
Abernethy,
Perthshire,
Scotland. Attached to the outer wall of Abernethy Pictish Tower are medieval jougs, an iron collar and chain, they are located beside the ancient Pictish sculpture stone at the foot of the Tower. In 1072 Scottish king Malcolm Canmore was here forced to kneel and pay homage to William the Conqueror.
