Photograph of Aberdour Doocot,
Fife, Scotland. A 16th century "beehive" shape doocot, or pigeon house, is located to the south of Aberdour Castle, containing around six hundred nesting boxes. The thirty feet high structure rises in four steps, divided by "rat courses"; projecting ribs which prevented rats from climbing inside.
