Adam Ferguson, also known as Ferguson of Raith was born on the 20th June 1723 at Logierait, Perthshire, and died 22nd February 1816 at St Andrews. He was a philosopher and historian of the Scottish Enlightenment, sometimes called "the father of modern sociology."
