Tour Scotland Photograph Video Watchtower Coupar Angus Perthshire

Tour Scotland photograph of a watchtower in the cemetery in Coupar Angus, Perthshire, Scotland. This building in the old cemetery was manned by local residents who kept watch for bodysnatchers. Across Scotland bodysnatchers dug up the dead and sold corpses to medical schools. Concerned locals kept watch in kirkyards. The name Coupar Angus serves to differentiate the town from Cupar, Fife. The town was transferred from the county of Angus to Perthshire in 1891, but retained its traditional name.
