Old Photograph Seafield Terrace And West Church Portsoy Scotland

Old photograph of Seafield Terrace and the West Church in Portsoy, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The large town church was built as a Free Church in the middle of the 19th century but is now the parish church of the burgh town of Portsoy. The church stands on a prominent site on rising ground, looking over Seafield Terrace, the main route through this busy fishing town. The church was largely rebuilt in 1870, although some of the original fabric was retained. The grounds in front of the church. on the South side, are terraced and there is a wide stairway leading up from the entrance gateway to the church door. The church serves as the parish church for Portsoy, as well as the parish of Fordyce, whose church closed down.
