Tour Scotland photograph of The Wee Cumbrai from Arneil Point in Ayrshire on the Clyde painting by Robert Houston who was born on June 1891 in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland. Robert studied at Glasgow School of Art and was a painter in oils and watercolours of landscapes and figurative subjects. He was also a noted aquatintist and designed and executed railway posters. He was elected to membership of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1936 and exhibited widely, showing works at the Royal Academy, at the Royal Scottish Academy, at the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours, and at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts.
