Tour Scotland Video Spitfire Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum Glasgow



Tour Scotland video of Spitfire F.21 LA198 in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum on ancestry visit to Glasgow, Scotland. The aircraft was introduced into service in January of 1945 with No.91 Squadron. On October of 1946, she was delivered for storage at RAF Cosford before delivery to 602nd Glasgow Squadron RAauxF on May 12th. She served with the squadron until 1951, coded RAI-G. Her pilot was Jack Forrest, a former RAF and RAauxF pilot who flew over Dunkirk in 1940 and Normandy in 1944. In 1970 she was sent to RAF Leuchars in Fife, Scotland for display on a plinth. In the 90s she was repatriated to the city of Glasgow, but before she was put up on display she underwent extensive restoration at RAF East Fortune near Edinburgh.
