Painters Cottage is a lovingly restored listed ground floor cottage set in a walled garden in the centre of the market town of Haddington in East Lothian. An ideal base to explore all of East Lothian with its miles of golden beaches, award winning attractions and magnificent castles. The festival city of Edinburgh is a mere 20 mins by car yet you can be on the golden beach at North Berwick in a similar time. Stunning links golf courses, award winning local produce and a friendly welcome all await. There really is something for everyone in East Lothian. Lennoxlove House, a historic 13th century house and estate, lies half a mile south of Haddington. Built by the Giffards of Yester, it was originally named Lethington. It was once home to the Maitland family, notably Sir Richard Maitland, and his son William Maitland of Lethington, Secretary of State to Mary, Queen of Scots'. The Maitlands left Lennoxlove in the 17th century, and it is now the seat of the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon.



Lammermuir Cottage is nestled close to the foot of the Lammermuir Hills, in the stunning East Lothian countryside. The former grieves cottage has been extensively refurbished to provide modern self-catering accommodation for up to 6 people. Each room has been tastefully decorated to provide a country cottage feel to the house. An open plan kitchen/living area, separate dining area, 2 twin bedrooms and separate bathroom are located at ground floor level. A further double en-suite bedroom is located at first floor level. Enclosed in its own private garden with views to the Lammermuir's, the cottage provides the ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside, coastal areas and Scottish Borders.Despite the rural location, the bright lights of Edinburgh are a mere 20 miles from your doorstep. The surrounding area offers much for those wishing to get out and about. In addition to the 19 golf courses within 20 miles, there is also hill walking, horse riding, surfing, fishing, scenic drives, cycling, whisky-tasting and castles to explore. Should you decide to eat out there are numerous restaurants scattered throughout East Lothian to satisfy all budgets and gastronomic requirements.
