With local walks from the door around Duns Castle Nature Reserve, golf at the local golf course, or the direct bus services to Eyemouth, Berwick-upon-Tweed and Melrose, as well as offering access to Borders cycle routes, you may not want to use the car at all. Alternatively, the beach at Coldingham Bay and St Abbs are 20 minutes away by car, with many Border towns, abbeys and stately homes also within the vicinity. The attractions of the North Northumberland coast and the Cheviot hills are within easy reach as well, such as the Holy Island of Lindesfarne. Duns itself can cater for all your daily shopping needs, as well as offering gift shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. It has a thriving community with events happening throughout the year. The nearest railway station is at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Duns golf course is just outside the town beyond the local swimming pool. Edinburgh is about one hour by car. Other nearby attractions in the area include stunning beaches such as Coldingham and Bamburgh, fishing on the Tweed and Whiteadder, a choice of marked cycle routes and golf on a selection of local courses. There is also a golf driving range and children's soft play area within easy walking distance.

Azalea Cottage
is a secluded former gardener's abode set in 1200 acres of tranquil parkland on the historic Duns Castle estate. This delightfully secluded, 19th century stone built cottage has two bedrooms, It is set amidst a profusion of azaleas and mature shrubs just a short walk from the lake with good open views. It is all on one level with only two steps to enter. Access to walks in the extensive grounds, which include woodland, hill vistas, a nature reserve ,a splendid lake and a tennis court. Dinner available Duns Castle by prior booking. Special outdoor activities including croquet, tennis, falconry, fishing, archery, clay pigeon shooting and off-road driving can be arranged at cost by prior request.
