Glenfinart Cottage
is in the Haugh or Urr, a small country village near Castle Douglas, also known as the food town. The Haugh of Urr has a childrens play park and a pub, the Laurie Arms serving guest real ales, and tasty meals. The cottage sleeps 4 and has been refurbished inside to a high standard to provide quiet and comfortable self catering accommodation to relax and unwind. Its all on one floor, no stairs, has double glazing and central heating and there is a large sunny garden to the rear. Heating and bed linen is included in the price. It's ideal for families, the pub is also child friendly, couples or groups of friends. There is a travel cot and high chair available at not extra cost. A mile away towards Dalbeattie sits the The Motte of Urr, the site of a motte-and-bailey castle, built on rising ground with earthworks creating a deep and wide ditch around it. Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas are both within 5 miles and provide local shops and speciality stores and restaurants. There is also a swimming pool in Castle Douglas and a tourist information center. The nearest coastal villages are Kippford, 7 miles away, from where you can walk round to the sandy beaches of Rockcliffe. There is mountain biking at 7-stanes Dalbeattie forest trails, and the Haugh of Urr is an excellent stating point for many road biking excursions around the region including round Loch Urr or round the coast to Kircudbright.




Gamepark Wood
is a superb, detached, single-storey cottage set 6 miles from Castle Douglas in Dumfries & Galloway. With one king-size double and one twin bedroom, the property can sleep four people. There's also a bathroom, a kitchen with dining area, a utility room and a sitting room with woodburner. Outside, there is ample off road parking plus a lawn garden with furniture, BBQ, a dog run and a summerhouse with Sky TV. Gamepark Wood is a fantastic holiday home, with all you'll need for a special break in Scotland. Castle Douglas has a large selection of independent food shops, as well as a range of pubs and restaurants. There's access to the picturesque Solway Coast, with its miles of beautiful beaches and scattering of pretty fishing villages.
