This wide selection of photographs includes Ayr's old ice rink, Codona's funfair during a visit to the Esplanade, tramcars being dismantled at the Bellesleyhill Road depot and the Ayrshire Agricultural Show at the racecourse. Many aspects of the town's history are represented here with a pleasing mixture of vanished landmarks and features still recognisable today. John Colquhoun, rag and bone man, pictured perched on his cart, is particularly evocative of an age long-gone. The Ayr United football team of 1921-22 is lined up, while an aerial view of the town shows the former Beresford Park football pitch (on which the Odeon was built) with sheep grazing on it. Old Ayr.
