A Vision Of Wild Scotland Photography Book

High Light. A Vision of Wild Scotland. High Light: A Vision of Wild Scotland. Colin Prior's work is about landscape photography at its limits. Shooting at the magic hours of dusk and dawn, he catches those rare moments when composition, fine light and colour combine to create a remarkable image. Each photograph captures fleeting moments of nature which will never repeat themselves exactly. The images verge on obsession, Prior camped out on the remotest peaks in Scotland to obtain them. This stunning new collection documents the dynamic nature of the Highlands landscape and wildlife, and sounds a clarion call for a new, engaged naturalism. In a world where the environment is increasingly being damaged, Prior argues, we should regain touch with what's left of the natural landscape rather than rely solely on superimposed solutions. A key reason why the natural environment is now in peril is precisely because of failures to understand its dynamic, in-flux nature. The portfolio combines breathtaking new examples of Prior's trademark panoramas - which continually appeal to the tourist/travel market - with a range of new medium-format images that push the boundaries of digital photography, of huge interest to his dedicated technical following.

Tour Scotland Video Autumn Trees Kinnoull Hill

Tour Scotland video of Autumn trees and Kinnoull Hill by Perth, Scotland. The south facing slopes of Kinnoull Hill. On the summit is Kinnoull Tower. Built in the 18th century by the 9th Earl of Kinnoull. Kinnoull Hill was given to the city of Perth in 1924 and was part of Scotland's very first woodland park in 1991. Kinnoull Hill is linked to nearby Dechney Hill by Coronation Road, a route taken by monarchs travelling between Falkland Palace and Scone Palace. The dramatic cliffs on the south side of Kinnoull Hill reminded the 9th Earl of Kinnoull of the lofty crags along the Rhine Valley in Germany, and the fairy tale castles that dot the rocky outcrops there. He felt that Perth needed its own version of those Rhine castles, so he erected fantasy towers atop Binn Hill, and here at Kinnoull Hill. In addition to the Tower, with its castellated battlements, the Earl built a large stone table for use as a picnic area.

Tour Scotland Autumn Video Old Church St Monans East Neuk of Fife

Tour Scotland Autumn video of the old church at St Monans, East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. St Monans Church is situated within its churchyard just to the west of the village on the very edge of the coast. The church bells were ringing at 10am this morning. It is often said that St Monans is the church nearest the sea in the whole of Scotland, and this may well be the case, being only around 60 feet from the edge. The church, one of the finest remaining from the Middle Ages in Scotland, was built by King David II Bruce, initially for a small house of Dominican friars. It later became the Church of Scotland parish church. Though the church may never have been finished (it has a choir and transepts, with a short spire over the crossing, but lacks a nave), it has many features of architectural interest, notably the fine stone vaulting in the choir and the plain but handsome sedilia. White washed throughout internally, the church is particularly light and attractive among ancient Scottish churches.

Tour Scotland Photographs Old Church St Monans East Neuk Of Fife

Tour Scotland photograph of the old church in St Monans, East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. St Monans Church is situated within its kirkyard just to the west of the village on the very edge of the sea. It has a very dramatic setting, perched on a low rock, reached over a small valley with a burn. As seen from most directions it has the sea as a backdrop. A more modern cemetery stands further westwards on the upper slopes of the little hill. This contains the local war memorial. Standing at the extreme west end of this a romantic ruin can be viewed across fields, again perched on the sea edge. It is often said that St Monans is the church nearest the sea in the whole of Scotland. The church, one of the finest remaining from the Middle Ages in Scotland, was built by King David II Bruce (1329-71), initially for a small house of Dominican friars. It later became the Church of Scotland parish church.
