Photographs Golfing Legends St Andrews Scotland

St Andrews and its Golfing Legends contains over two hundred photographs depicting historical St Andrews and its world famous golf course from just before the start of the twentieth century until the Second World War. Many of these items of memorabilia are extremely rare and, along with the detailed captions, bring the past of this great sporting venue to life. Special attention is paid to the great people and places associated with the course, such as the Morris family, Harry Vardon, James Braid, Bobby Jones and members of the British Royal Family, the Old Course, the Royal and Ancient, ladies' golf and, of course, the town itself, including the graveyard in the local cathedral where many of the players were laid to rest. This is a remarkable collection that beautifully evokes the history of St Andrews, the golf course and the heroes that have graced its fairways and greens.
